Enriched air, also known as nitrox, is a form of breathing gas that allows divers to extend bottom time and reduce nitrogen loading. This is PADI’s most popular specialty course, and can be completed in as little as an afternoon!
Once you sign up for the course, your instructor will be in touch to schedule the 1 hour in-class practical session!
Knowledge Development: all theory may be completed at home through PADI eLearning or in the shop with your instructor.
You will learn why diving with air with a higher oxygen content and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time. You’ll also be introduced to special safety and equipment considerations.
In-Class: in one practical session in the shop, you’ll cover with your instructor:
- Managing oxygen exposure
- Practice analyzing oxygen content in you scuba tank
- Set your dive computer for diving with nitrox
**Optional: add on 2 ocean dives - ask your instructor**
Minimum Age: 12 years old
Certification: minimum Open Water (or Jr. Open Water) certification or equivalent
Medical: each student must complete a PADI medical form specifically for scuba diving. Click to view the PADI Medical Questionnaire
