Greg Baldock PADI IDC Staff Instructor First certified in 1975 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Greg is also a service technician and qualified Nitrox Blender.
Roger McDonell Captain (60 ton) Certified First certified in 1977 in Brandon, Manitoba. Diving in Campbell River and area since 1978 and has been writing about marine life and photographing and videoing in local waters since 1980.
Greg Baldock and Roger McDonell have joined forces to share their combined decades of diving background and passions for the ocean experience.
For Greg its a long time goal to return to Vancouver Island where he lived during his childhood. Moving to Campbell River from Montreal where he earned his Professional Association of Diving Instructors certification, Greg has been managing and instructing divers at Beaver Aquatics for five years.
For Roger its returning to what first brought him to Vancouver Island and Campbell River forty years ago. "As a new diver, I found myself in Campbell River working as a radio reporter and joined up with the local Tide Rippers Dive Club," explains McDonell. "I was fortunate to develop an interest in underwater photography and able to share the incredible marine life with other divers and non-divers alike."
The two business partners are also active scuba diving buddies and are regularly heading out to dive sites in the local waters with new and experienced divers.
Baldock's role as an instructor has him in the pool and ocean weekly teaching new divers and promoting safety skills through advanced diver training. "Our goal is to get divers out diving and doing it safely," states Greg. "By offering advanced courses like Rescue Diver and Drysuit Diver, along with regular charters to local dive sites, we expect there will will be increased opportunity for divers to get their ocean fix."
While Baldock will be managing the shop and doing instruction, McDonell will be running charters on his 38' aluminum cruiser Gizmo. Designed and built for the West Coast waters, Gizmo is Transport Canada certified and McDonell has a 60 ton Master Mariner certification.
